Avatar Toy Photo & AI Art Background
A Very Practical Use For AI Art WITH Photography
I’ve been experimenting with AI Art and using it in primarily two ways.
1. To create backgrounds that I can use to either print and photograph toys against as part of a diorama or that I can use as a composite layer in Photoshop to blend in an actual photograph to make it look like it’s all part of one scene.
2. To create art from scratch.
I’m mostly using the first option but am learning what I can about both. I got some questions on how this works so here goes.
See the BTS shot here…
The subject is held in place on a 12-guage wire suspended from a Platypod In this case it is a toy from McFarlane Toys featuring a character from the new Avatar sequel. I then made a background in Adobe Firefly using the following prompts —
“Photo — Contemporary Realism, elaborate, dynamic lighting, intricately detailed ravine with river and a waterfall.”
There is some skill required in being able to come up with the right prompts. I will give my prompts away once in a while in case any of you want to try this and need a leg up.
After the photo session, I took the one I liked best, then I composited the toy layer on top of the background in Photoshop. Then I went into Boris FX and created about 30 minutes worth of texture and color grade, lighting effects, particle effects, etc and melded it all together.
Whether or not you like the result — you get the idea. There is absolutely a place for this new technology mixed with photography. Here, I demonstrated but one place where the two go together in this image.
Open your mind to the possibilities.
Made this with my Fuji X100V mounted on top of a Platyball/Platypod with Lume Cube Panel Pros set up for relatively flat lighting.
Remember, toys are joy.
