Find Cheap Photo Props On Amazon

The photo that accompanies this article features two Star Wars/Mandalorian Dark Troopers. It’s emulating a space ship interior. I actually have some 3D printed pieces that re-create the Death Star interior and a Star Wars-era prison ship interior but JUST FOR FUN (It is toy photography after all) I saw these plastic folding storage crates. I needed some portable storage so I sprang for them (about $12.50 a piece) and they happen to make a great prop doubling as the interior of a space ship.

(If you’re interested you can buy them here — https://amzn.to/3HBGm8a)

If you do any sort of indoor photography, then you need props. Props make images more fun. In the table top world (still life, macro, product and toy photography) they are essential.

I find myself constantly on the prowl for props. I look at antique stores, Dollar Stores, pet supply shops (aquarium accessories are often great for the kind of work I do.) etc.

Amazon, Ebay and Etsy are also great places to look for props and Amazon is where I found the best deal on these crates.

I did use the 3D printed floor I had from my other space ship props but in the end I framed it so the floor didn’t show so it didn’t matter.

CONCLUSION

As I always do, I’ll mention the need to pre-visualize what you want the final image to look like BEFORE you press the shutter button. This will help you construct sets, find props, etc. that help tell the final story you want to tell.

Remember, toys are joy.
