Things You Might Not Know About Droid IG-11 From The Mandalorian
Robots are amongst my favorite action figures to collect because as a child, I was completely fascinated with Robbie the Robot on the original “Lost in Space” television show. It was on another TV show that I found Eyegee. IG-11 made his presence felt in the Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. Here’s some facts you might not know about this dangerous droid.
1. IG-11 was also known as Eyegee-Eleven or simply as IG or Eyegee.
2. IG-11 was a masculine IG-series droid who worked as a bounty hunter around 9 ABY. He was often mistaken for IG-88, another famous bounty hunter droid.
3. IG-11 is a dangerous assassin droid. These droids are outlawed everywhere in the civilized galaxy.
4. IG-11 is a hired gun programmed to follow Bounty Hunters Guild protocols to the letter!
5. IG-11 was tasked with killing Grogu (also known as “The Child,”) an infant member of the same species as former Jedi Grand Master Yoda.
6. IG-11 teamed up with another Mandalorian bounty hunter named Din Djarin on Arvala-7 in order to find Grogu.
7. IG-11 got in over his head when he teamed up with Din. Din had orders to bring Grogu in alive if possible and IG-11 was programmed strictly to kill Grogu. So Din destroyed the robot.
8. Kuiil (a scavenger) rebuilt and reprogramed IG-11 to help him on his moisture farm.
9. IG-11 killed many Nikto mercenaries after they refused to comply with subparagraph sixteen of the Bondsman Guild Protocol waiver — which stated that they were required to produce the asset to IG-11.
10. In a strange twist of fate, even though Eyegee was originally programed to kill The Child, IG-11 ended up sacrificing himself; activating his self-destruct mode in order to kill a platoon of stormtroopers to prevent Grogu from being captured. After his sacrifice, a statue of the droid was erected in Nevarro’s city.
IG-11 is a relatively new charter in the Star Wars universe and I am thrilled to own this HotToys version that you see pictured here.
Remember, toys are joy.
