War Machine Fighting Armor

War Machine — Sentinel “Fighting Armor” series.

I am a big fan of these toys. Around $100 each — they are much cheaper than the 1/6 figures I often photograph — cheaper than even the 1/10 scale stuff I shoot from Iron Studios — but these toys are still die cast and very high quality and very easy to pose. Although in this case I just wanted to make a simple portrait — also I wanted to experiment with creating the background entirely in BORIS FX Optics and it worked out as I hoped. Some people freak out at using AI ART (which I often do to make my backgrounds) but they accept something created from scratch in a particle effects generator like Optics.

While it did take me a little longer to generate the background in BorisFX it wasn’t MUCH longer than it would take me to experiment with prompt engineering that would do the same thing using an AI ART generator like DALL-E or Midjourney.

We live in interesting times.
